As the New Year begins to unfold, we all resolve to make changes and set goals.

So why is it that only 8% of people follow through and achieve their New Year’s resolutions? It isn’t for lack of wanting to. JoyGenerally, people really want to make changes. Yet, the biggest excuse at the end of the year is that “life just got in the way.” But what is the real reason?

There have been many articles written around the subject as to the reasons behind the vague excuse that “life just got in the way.” In fact, Forbes recently outlined some of the major reasons in their latest blog post “Just 8% of People Achieve Their New Year’s Resolutions – Here’s How They Did It”, on January 1, 2014. Here were some of their most popular reasons:

➢ People have so many competing priorities it is near impossible. The solution recommended is to keep resolutions simple.
➢ Many resolutions are too vague. The solution was to set specific tangible goals.
➢ Resolutions were not obvious. The suggestion was to chart your goals in a specific manner.

However, there is an inherent underlying reason that eclipses all of those mentioned above. If this “challenge” could be handled, than all of the other reasons and excuses would just melt away and not be an issue.

The REAL reason is that people just don’t find “Joy in the Journey” of achieving their goals throughout the year.

We’re all on a new journey in 2014. Let’s do this together! Here are 3 tips for how you can find joy in your journey this year:

1. Avoid Making Comparisons
Comparing ourselves with others usually leaves us feeling either prideful or defeated, and most definitely joyless. Be grateful daily for who you are and for the gifts that make you unique and special.

2. Squash All Negative Thoughts
Someone once said, “Whatever you think, you say. Whatever you believe, you do.” Negative thoughts can only poison our minds if we carry them around on our shirtsleeves daily. As soon as you’re aware of a negative thought, imagine squashing it under your foot and grinding it into the ground. Then immediately replace the negative thought with a positive one. Our thoughts have a powerful effect on our beliefs and actions once they find a home in our minds and hearts.

3. Applaud Each Day’s Successes – Including Those Of Others
You lost another pound. Give yourself a hand! You took another step towards starting your new business. Good for you! You pushed through a fear. Yeah!

Seek out ways to contribute to the success of others. Celebrate someone else’s triumph each day, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. Life is filled with small blessings that add up to a joyful journey; so don’t miss a single one. Write them down in a “Joy Journal” that you start now and continue with throughout the year.

Food banks brace for wave of hungry masses from federal food stamp cuts

The federal food stamp program known as the “Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program” (SNAP) has now been cut by a small amount — just $36 / month for a family of four. But even this tiny reduction in a national entitlement program is causing shockwaves acrossServing-Food-Poor-Beggar-Homeless the nation as food banks scramble to handle the anticipated surge in “hungry masses.”

“Food banks across the country, stretched thin in the aftermath of the recession, are bracing for more people coming through their doors in the wake of cuts to the federal food stamp program,” writes USA Today.

There are almost 50 million Americans on food stamps right now. A family of four used to receive roughly $600 / month from the government, but that amount has now been cut by around six percent. The fact that this $36 reduction is causing so much panic underscores just how deeply millions of Americans have come to depend on government money to simply survive.

Cuts deemed “catastrophic” for many people

These cuts, “will be close to catastrophic for many people,” said Ross Fraser, a spokesman for Feeding America, as quoted in a story by CBS News.

“It’s going to send people into a charitable system that’s already overwhelmed and screaming for help itself,” says Jim Weill of the Food Research and Action Center, also quoted in that same CBS story.

CBS somehow blames the massive increase in food stamps on the “housing crash” of 2006 – 2007, utterly failing to mention that widespread joblessness is being caused by Obama’s economic policies and the disastrous Obamacare program itself. Instead, CBS says:

…Participation in SNAP has soared during the epic downturn and ongoing job slump that followed the housing crash, with an additional 21 million people added to the rolls since 2008.

Already talk of “food riots”

“If you look across the world, riots always begin typically the same way: when people cannot afford to eat food,” said Margarette Purvis, the president and CEO of the Food Bank for New York City, as quoted in a Salon.com article.

“Our members are panicking,” Purvis told NBC News, adding that “We’re telling everyone to make sure that you are prepared for longer lines.”

The question on everybody’s minds, of course, is: What happens when the available food runs out and millions go hungry? While that scenario may not unfold this year, the fact that more and more people are losing their jobs and needing food stamps to survive inevitably puts an increased burden on food banks, too.

Don’t confuse SNAP food stamp program with “nutrition”

Just for the record, by the way, the federal food stamp program is full of fraud and abuse. People sell EBT cards for cash on Craigslist, for example, and many retail stores have been busted trading cash for card charges, allowing food stamp recipients to acquire cash they use to buy crack, meth or other drugs.

Even when used for food, the SNAP program is often used to buy toxic, highly-processed junk food products. EBT cards can be used to buy cookies, sodas, toxic hot dogs and processed meats, foods contaminated with pesticides and heavy metals, and other toxic products that drive up long-term health care costs.

Personally, I support having a basic food safety net in place for needy families but only if credits can be used to buy truly nutritious foods, not processed junk foods that enrich wealthy food corporations.

Why should taxpayers foot the bill, after all, for toxic products that make families and children sick? This is especially true when you consider that taxpayers have to pay a second time for the health care costs associated with such poor food habits. For every dollar spent on junk foods today, somebody’s going to have to pony up another $5 – $10 later on to cover the health care costs associated with that food. The best food stamp program would be to end Obamacare and restore jobs across America

At the risk of offending socialist entitlement-state worshippers who remain astonishingly ignorant about economics, allow me to point out the obvious here: The only reason so many people are on food stamps is because their jobs are being systematically destroyed by disastrous government economic policies and the Obamacare program in particular.

Thanks to Obamacare, employers everywhere are slashing hours, cutting jobs and giving people pink slips in record numbers. The Obamacare mandate simply makes it too expensive to keep as many employees on the payroll, so they’re getting dropped.

Most people on food stamps would rather have a job that pays enough to buy their own food! But in this economic downfall that has accelerated since Obama’s election in 2008, there are fewer and fewer opportunities even for people who want to work.

Historical data shows vaccines are not what saved us

Do vaccines actually protect against the viruses and illnesses that they claim to? If you only get your news and information from mainstream news and educational sources, then the question about whether vaccines are effective is never even raised. However, if you look at the historical data on vaccination efficacy, you’ll see that they are not responsible for the decline in disease in the last hundred years at all.

Historical evidence

Take a look at some of the historical data below showing various vaccination programs and the outbreak of that very disease either Murdered-by-Science-Vaccinesimmediately or several years later.

-In 1871-2 England, with 98% of the population aged between 2 and 50 vaccinated against smallpox, it experienced its worst ever smallpox outbreak with 45,000 deaths. During the same period in Germany, with a vaccination rate of 96%, there were over 125,000 deaths from smallpox. (The Hadwen Documents)

– In Germany, compulsory mass vaccination against diphtheria commenced in 1940, and by 1945, diphtheria cases were up from 40,000 to 250,000. (Don’t Get Stuck, Hannah Allen)

– In 1967, Ghana was declared measles-free by the World Health Organization after
96% of its population was vaccinated. In 1972, Ghana experienced one of its worst measles outbreaks with its highest ever mortality rate. (Dr. H. Albonico, MMR Vaccine Campaign in Switzerland, March 1990)

– In the UK between 1970 and 1990, over 200,000 cases of whooping cough occurred in fully vaccinated children. (Community Disease Surveillance Centre, UK)

– In the 1970s, a tuberculosis vaccine trial in India involving 260,000 people revealed that more cases of TB occurred in the vaccinated than the unvaccinated. (The Lancet 12/1/80 p73)

– In 1977, Dr. Jonas Salk, who developed the first polio vaccine, testified along with other scientists that mass inoculation against polio was the cause of most polio cases throughout the USA since 1961. (Science 4/4/77 “Abstracts”)

– In 1979, Sweden abandoned the whooping cough vaccine due to its ineffectiveness. Out of 5,140 cases in 1978, it was found that 84% had been vaccinated three times! (BMJ 283:696-697, 1981)

-The February 1981 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association found that 90% of obstetricians and 66% of pediatricians refused to take the rubella vaccine.

– In Oman between 1988 and 1989, a polio outbreak occurred amongst thousands of
fully vaccinated children. The region with the highest infection rate had the highest vaccine coverage. The region with the lowest infection rate had the lowest vaccine coverage. (The Lancet, 21/9/91)

– In the New England Journal of Medicine July 1994 issue, a study found that over 80%
of children under 5 years of age who had contracted whooping cough had been fully vaccinated.

– In 1990, the Journal of the American Medical Association had an article on measles which stated, “Although more than 95% of school-aged children in the US are vaccinated against measles, large measles outbreaks continue to occur in schools and most cases in this setting occur among previously vaccinated children.” (JAMA, 21/11/90)

Medical deception

So what are some of the true reasons for the decrease in disease in the last century? From his book Health and Healing, Dr. Andrew Weil said it best with the following statement:

“Scientific medicine has taken credit it does not deserve for some advances in health. Most people believe that victory over the infectious diseases of the last century came with the invention of immunizations. In fact, cholera, typhoid, tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough, etc, were in decline before vaccines for them became available – the result of better methods of sanitation, sewage disposal, and distribution of food and water.”

Listen Up Gents: Moderate chocolate consumption is linked with decreased stroke risk in men

The scientific community has released yet more good news about the health benefits of chocolate – moderate consumption may reduce the risk of stroke in men. Earlier studies have shown this delectable food reduces the risk of stroke in women, as well as enhances the Broken-Bar-Dark-Chocolatehealth of the heart and brain in both sexes. This latest word of cheer gives male chocolate lovers one more reason to indulge in this treat, as long as they do not overdo it.

Author Susanna Larsson tells Fox News that it made sense to explore chocolate’s effect on stroke, given that it has already been shown to lower blood pressure and LDL cholesterol, both of which are risk factors for this cardiovascular event. So the next logical step was to look at stroke.

In the research, scientists examined the dietary habits of 37,000 Swedish men and followed them for 10 years, identifying close to 2,000 participants who suffered a stroke during this period. The findings revealed that men who ate approximately one third of a cup of chocolate chips lowered their stroke risk by 17 percent compared to those who avoided chocolate. Even after factoring in other risk factor data collected on the men, such as obesity, high blood pressure and smoking, the results still held.

Although most of the men in the study ate milk chocolate, Larsson expects the results would have been the same with the dark variety. However, she recommends dark chocolate as the better choice because it would only be necessary to eat half the amount to get the same benefit. Eating less of this rich food would reduce the risk of weight gain, explains Larsson.

While the scientists do not know exactly why chocolate produced the benefit, Larsson postulates it may be due to the flavonoid content, compounds that appear to enhance cardiovascular health through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting effects. “There are several potential mechanisms,” she says.

Since chocolate is high in fat, sugar and calories, Larsson and other experts stress limiting its consumption to a moderate amount. Rather than focusing solely on the chocolate, the authors advocate exercise and eating a healthful diet.

Even though a cause-effect relationship between chocolate and reduced stroke risk has not been established, the association between the two has definitely been proven. The study was published in the online version of the journal Neurology.

Fast food workers demand ‘living wage’ to keep serving food that’s killing everybody

This is a different kind of article. This is not my opinion, but I thought it was different and should be read!

A series of rolling fast food “walkout” strikes makes it way to the South this Thursday, August 29th. Thousands of workers from Dallas, Houston, Austin, Memphis, Tampa and over a dozen other cities are planning to walk off their jobs to protest the fact that French-Fries-Fast-Foodthey aren’t being paid $15 / hour to serve GMOs, high-fructose corn syrup, soybean-assisted “meat” burgers and aspartame to their customers.

Yet I say it’s a call for a nationwide celebration! And the only thing better than fast food workers walking off their jobs for a day would be fast food workers walking off their jobs forever.

Consider the irony of all this for just a moment: Fast food workers demand to be paid a “living wage” to serve food that’s killing everybody. It’s not even debated anymore that the very foods served at fast food restaurants — high in processed salt, chemical additives, fried fats, refined sugars, MSG, acrylamides, aspartame and GMOs — are the primary culprits behind our nation’s growing epidemic of chronic disease: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and more. The average fast food meal contains over 100 chemicals, many of which are known to cause cancer and other diseases. Almost nothing served by fast food establishments is considered “nutritious.”

So any day that the fast food industry is shut down is a good day for the health of all Americans. In fact, I’m calling this Thursday a national holiday: The “National Health Food Day” where everybody gets a mandatory break from all the toxins they’d normally shove down their throats while expecting Obamacare to pay all the costs of the diseases they acquire as a result.

Have you seen what the Natural News Forensic Food Lab found in Chicken McNuggets? Strange fibers, weird hair-like structures, bizarre colorants and more. This is fast food, folks. And the word “food” almost doesn’t belong in the phrase.

Fast food workers need more money to pay all their sick-care costs

Only in America do people demand university graduate-level wages to serve up chemically-altered fake food that causes the very diseases which raise the costs of health insurance that force fast food companies to slash hours and cut jobs in the first place.

Talk about an insane spiral of self-destruction…

Remarkably, the point of view of the low-income class of workers who are behind all this is merely that they are not being paid enough to poison the population with foods that cause disease. Apparently if they were all paid $15 / hour, then everything would be okay. Heck, at that rate they all might even be able to afford the chemotherapy treatments and diabetes drugs they’ll all eventually need to treat all the disease symptoms caused by eating their own product.

And as long as fast food workers are being paid $15 / hour, I think cancer center chemotherapy poison technicians should be paid $50 / hour. Hospital workers should get $75 / hour and funeral home workers should bring home $100 / hour. It’s America’s new sick-care economy! Tyson Foods announces it will stop buying meat cattle raised on Zilmax drug

Though clearly a move to protect its own profits rather than safeguard public health, industrial meat processor Tyson Foods Inc. nonetheless announced recently that it will no longer accept for processing cattle that have been treated with the growth-accelerating Cows-Slaughterhousedrug, Zilmax. According to reports, the company has recognized not only that cattle fed the Merck & Co. drug often suffer immense pain due to excessive weight gain, but also that many export countries like Russia and China do not want meat that contains any trace of the controversial substance.

The decision comes just months after rival Smithfield Foods, which is currently in the process of being acquired by a Chinese holding firm, decided to phase out the use of ractopamine, a similar growth-accelerating drug, in pigs following bans on the drug in both China and Russia. According to Reuters, Tyson’s announcement follows a similar lead, as Zilmax-treated cattle are increasingly being rejected both domestically and internationally due to their questionable safety record for human consumption.

Tyson officials claim the ban is being implemented to promote animal welfare, as many Zilmax-treated cattle are too overweight and deformed to even walk down the slaughter chute. But many media sources now believe Tyson’s true motive is to protect its export market by voluntarily withdrawing animals treated with the drug. In order to avoid losing considerable foreign market share in the coming months and years, in other words, Tyson has chosen to act first by rejecting a product that will cut into its export sales.

“There have been recent instances of cattle delivered for processing that have difficulty walking or are unable to move,” states a letter recently sent by Tyson to cattle farmers. “We do not know the specific cause of these problems, but some animal health experts have suggested that the use of the feed supplement Zilmax, also known as zilpaterol, is one possible cause. Our evaluation of these problems is ongoing but as an interim measure we plan to suspend our purchases of cattle that have been fed Zilmax.”

Synthetic growth drugs: One more reason to purchase only humanely-raised, grass-fed meats

Like many other growth-accelerating drugs currently given to factory farm animals, Zilmax is a beta agonist, which means it mimics the action of naturally occurring hormones when ingested. Originally designed to treat respiratory ailments in humans, beta agonists work in cattle by altering their metabolisms and accelerating the rate at which they convert feed to usable muscle tissue. They also promote a higher conversion of feed into protein rather than fat, which leads to higher lean meat production.

Zilmax is just one of many beta agonists currently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for administration in factory cattle. So even with Tyson’s new moratorium on this controversial additive, the company will continue to process cattle that contains other beta agonists, such as Optaflexx, which also unnaturally bulks up animals by speeding up the breakdown and synthesis of feed.

Mortality rate doubles for females eating refined white sugar!

In what is arguably the most shocking food study conducted since the Seralini “GMO rats” study released last year, researchers at the University of Utah have found that even a small amount of refined sugar consumption resulted in a doubling of the death rate of female Dead-Mouse-Sugar-Bowlmice.

Fed merely the equivalent of three cans of soda a day, females experienced a 100% increase in death rates, and males experienced a sharp drop in fertility. Males were also found to have impaired ability to hold territory, according to the study authors.

“Our results provide evidence that added sugar consumed at concentrations currently considered safe exerts dramatic adverse impacts on mammalian health,” the researchers explain. (SOURCE)

One of the study authors, James Ruff, explained that even though the mice did not show observable symptoms of obesity or diabetes, a careful monitoring of their behavior showed that they died more frequently and reproduced less frequently.

The study was brilliantly designed to mimic the real-world competitive living environment among mice, forcing them to compete for territory (nesting beds) and reproductive partners. Interestingly, the study found that the toxic effect of feeding the mice refined white sugar was equal to being inbred mice (i.e. offspring of first cousins).

Think about that for a minute: sugar makes mice dumber than if their parents were cousins!

Many Americans eat far more sugar, proportionally, than the mice were fed

The obvious implication of this is that a huge portion of the American population already consumes more than 25 percent of its daily caloric intake in the form of refined sugars, including:

• Maltodextrin
• High Fructose Corn Syrup
• Sucrose
• Sugar
• Fructose
• Dextrose

There is no question that the widespread consumption of all these sugars is a primary cause behind the epidemic of diabetes and obesity under which America is currently suffering. Aside from the obvious sources of sugar (sodas, sugary cereals, pastries, candy, etc.), refined sugar is also hidden in everyday grocery items like pizza sauce, salad dressing and even wheat bread.

Unless you make a concerted effort to avoid refined sugars, it’s easy to intake large quantities on a daily basis. If this mice study proves to be correct in humans, consuming refined sugars may cause you to die early, become infertile or otherwise act in a cognitively impaired manner that vastly reduces your survivability. Refined white sugar is devoid of nutrients

Why is refined white sugar so bad for your health? Because it’s an “anti-food” that has been stripped of nearly all nutrition.

Research: Co-Q10 decreases inflammation and protects your muscular and neurological systems

Coenzyme Q-10 was first identified in 1955 in England. It was isolated as an electron carrying coenzyme involved with adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, the energy molecule of cellular mitochondria.

This coenzyme is normally produced in the body, but as one ages, that production declines. This is why it often needs to be supplemented. Hrr57-Q10Apparently, CoQ10 is attracted to organs that demand higher energy functioning, especially the heart.

There have been several studies proving CoQ10’s ability to restore cellular energy not only for cardiovascular purposes, but also neurological health. One study even discovered that low blood levels of CoQ10 were a common denominator among older lethal diseased patients. [1]

Comparing ubiquinone and ubiquinol CoQ10

The recent development of ubiquinol is considered by many to be superior to plain old-fashioned ubiquinone CoQ10. It’s reputed to be more easily absorbed since it requires one less conversion step in the body. It’s also much more expensive.

However, the iconoclastic cardiologist, Dr. Stephen Sinatra, MD, wasn’t convinced by the short study that claimed to confirm this promotion. So he did one of his own for three months, with 12 volunteers, ages ranging from high 20s to high 60s.

He had half of them take ubiquinol while the other half took ubiquinone for a month. Then both groups took nothing the second month. During the third month the two groups reversed what they were taking previously. Both forms of CoQ10 were given at 200 mg daily.

He measured their blood levels of CoQ10 monthly and noticed very little difference between the two forms of CoQ10. One person’s blood levels even went down with ubiquinol. Dr. Sinatra did get reports of fatigue from the ubiquinol users, which surprised him. [2]

A couple of his colleagues had similar patient reports of fatigue with ubiquinol. A woman who commented on Dr. Sinatra’s article mentioned how she changed to ubiquinol to further improve her reduced blood pressure results from CoQ10. But her blood pressure went back up instead.

Test time for CoQ10

Here are two CoQ10 research study summaries. The first involves reducing inflammation markers among coronary artery diseased (CAD) subjects. Arterial inflammation has recently been discovered as the root cause of cardiovascular disease, displacing cholesterol clogged arteries as the main culprit (http://www.naturalnews.com).

This study took place 2011-2012 at Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan. The researchers took 51 patients, gave some placebos (how unfair!), some 60 mg of CoQ10 daily, and others 150 mg for 12 weeks.

The researchers discovered decreased inflammation markers according to dosage levels. The higher the amount, the less there were signs of inflammation. They concluded that CoQ10 dosages of 150 mg may reduce CAD inflammation. [3]

A rather broad Italian study, conducted in 2010 by the University of Pisa examined the prospects of treating various neurological diseases sparked by mitochondrial defects from CoQ10 deficiencies. Those neurological diseases included Parkinson’s disease and others.

This research team simply reviewed other studies that demonstrated CoQ10’s efficacy in neurological diseases. They also commented on statin drugs inhibiting CoQ10 production as a factor for inducing neurological disorders among those on statin medications. [4]

By the way, inhibiting CoQ10 is a statin drug side effect, which may be compensated with CoQ10 supplements. However, even the main purpose of statins, reducing cholesterol, creates a risk factor for neurological diseases.

Research consistently finds walnut oil effective against type 2 diabetes

A team of researchers led by JoAnn F. Manson of the Harvard School of Public Health revealed that consumption of walnut oil is significantly correlated to lower risk of type 2 diabetes in women. The disclosure was made in February of this year with the release of print issue number 4 from volume 143 of the Journal of Nutrition. Prior medical evidence associating polyunsaturated fatty acid content in Walnuts-Nuts-Health-Snack-Food-Rawwalnut oil with lower risk of cardio-metabolic conditions served as the springboard for the research. The other members of the collaborative endeavor are An Pan, Qi Sun, Frank Hu, and Walter Willett, who hail from private and public medical and academic institutions in Boston and Singapore.

The research involved two decades of a large sample cohort of almost 60,000 women who belong to two age brackets, 62-57 and 35-52 years old, from the Nurses Health Study I and II, respectively. Findings showed that eating walnuts is inversely associated with the risk of having type 2 diabetes and the reduced risk is mediated by body mass index. With several other studies, the research by Manson et al provided a scaffold to the hypothesis that incorporating nuts as a component of a healthy balanced diet helps prevent diabetes.

Main Nutritional Components of Walnut Oil

Walnut oil is high in triglycerides, the heart-friendly omega-3 fatty acids. Among these triglycerides are polyunsaturated fats such as a-linolenic acid, linoleic acid, and the monounsaturated fat, oleic acid.
