Turmeric produces mind-blowing recovery from dementia symptoms!

Wow, go Turmeric. I sure didn’t have this knowledge.

If  you or a loved one suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease or some other form of dementia, there is hope and healing to be found in Turmeric-Root-Curcumin-Powderturmeric. Based on the recent findings of three independent case studies, turmeric, whose primary active ingredient is curcumin, has the power not only to heal both the behavior and psychological symptoms associated with dementia, but also help lead to full recovery of the disease in as little as just a few months.

A traditional cooking spice that has been used copiously throughout India and Southeast Asia for many millennia, turmeric has been the subject of myriad scientific studies in recent years. The circulatory, digestive, and neurological systems of the body, it turns out, are all positively impacted by turmeric, and the seemingly never-ending list of diseases for which the spice is known to provide healing is continually expanding all the time.

This is definitely the case with regards to turmeric’s impact on cognitive health, as evidenced by new research out of Japan. The chief physician at Kariya Toyota General Hospital in Kariya City and his colleagues evaluated three separate case studies involving turmeric and came to some fascinating conclusions about the herb’s therapeutic value. In each case, turmeric was shown to both relieve dementia symptoms and improve overall cognitive function.

“In a study involving three patients with Alzheimer’s Disease, whose cognitive decline and Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia were severe, exhibiting irritability, agitation, anxiety, and apathy, supplementation with turmeric powder capsules for over one year was found to be associated with improvement in symptoms,” wrote the authors of the study in their summary.

“Total score on the Neuro-Psychiatric Inventory-brief questionnaire decreased significantly in both acuity of symptoms and burden of caregivers after 12 weeks of treatment,” they added. “Score on the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) went up five points (from 12/30 to 17/30) in one of the cases, and the other two cases were able to recognize their family within one year of treatment.”

Consuming a little as one gram of turmeric daily for three months can lead to ‘remarkable improvements’

So while the conventional disease industry continues to waste billions of dollars searching for a pharmaceutical-based silver bullet “cure” for dementia, a simple, inexpensive cooking spice made from a plant is already getting the job done. Taking as little as one gram, or roughly one-quarter of a teaspoon, of turmeric powder or extract daily, it turns out, is enough to produce mind-blowing improvements in dementia symptoms.

Earlier research published in the journal Annals of Indian Academy of Neurology back in 2008 corroborates this fact, having found that turmeric’s natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying mechanisms help improve memory in patients with dementia. Simply consuming more of this flavorful spice as part of one’s normal diet, in other words, has the potential to completely transform brain health and alleviate even the worst dementia symptoms.

“Curcumin as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and lipophilic action improves the cognitive functions in patients with AD (Alzheimer’s Disease),” wrote the authors of this earlier study in their Abstract. “Due to various effects of curcumin, such as decreased Beta-amyloid plaques, delayed degradation of neurons, metal-chelation, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and decreased microglia formation, the overall memory in patients with AD has improved.”

Annoying Facebook Friends: How To Avoid Them Without Having To Delete Them

This is really good information. I did not know this for a long time.

No doubt, from time to time, we can all find Facebook to be somewhat annoying. Scrolling through the news feed can become cumbersome, especially when the feed is full of people’s status updates about what they had for lunch, photos of what they had for lunch, annoying “news” of their recent retail therapy, or with continual updates throughout the day detailing their every move and motion.

Not to mention that girl you were at college with, the self-proclaimed artist / musician / therapist / yoga instructor who endlessly self-advertises herself through your news feed.

Annoying as these instances can be, deleting these people can be an extreme measure to take. Deleting people from your friends list can sometimes be more trouble than it is worth, especially when people can take it personally and end up either re-requesting you as a friend (embarrassing) or messaging to ask why you have deleted them (even more embarrassing!).  Annoying-Facebook-Friends

Here are a few easy and effective ways of removing annoying posts from your news feed without having to resort to the harsh deleting technique, and thus avoiding those sticky situations. These quick and easy alternatives will help clean up your news feed in no time!

Hide Posts:
Facebook allows you to “hide” an individual post which you may find annoying or offensive. Not only that, the process is unbelievably simple and takes no time at all. Simply click the arrow at the top right-hand corner of the post, then select the “Hide” option from the drop down menu. If necessary, you can also report the post as spam. From this decision Facebook will then prompt you to either organize your news feed or change the kind of updates you wish to view from your friend (covered in the next few points).

Organize Your News Feed:
By choosing this option, Facebook provides a short and simple process allowing you to easily customize your news feed. The option displays the friends and networks which you have not interacted with recently. Facebook then provides the option of seeing less of their posts, and also of optimizing these friends into groups and lists.

Optimize Updates From Friends:
If you still feel that you are seeing a little too much of a friend’s feed you can optimize your account to limit what you can see. Again, click on the “Hide” option and you will be provided with options allowing you to optimize what you see from this friend in the future. The options provided include fewer updates in general, and seeing photo or status updates only.

Manage Your Limited Lists:
Facebook has introduced various measures allowing you to micromanage your news feed. The platform recently allowed you to star close friends allowing you to be notified of their updates. On the opposite side of this, the platform has introduced the “Acquaintance” and “Restricted Friends” lists. These options allow you to promote friends you want to see more content from on your feed, and to relegate those that you wish to see less of. In order to view your lists or to create a new one, simply click the “Friends” tab on your homepage (this can be found in the menu on the left hand side of the page). To add friends to the relevant list, click on the list you wish to add them to, e.g. Restricted Friends, and then enter the names of the selected friends to the list.

Select Who To Share Your Posts With:
If you are posting something which may receive a negative reaction from certain friends, you can now select which friends are able to see your posts. In order to stop friends from seeing a post, simply select the “Custom Share” setting. It optimizes and adjusts your feed so certain people can’t see it, and they will be unaware you have done this. You can do this by selecting the drop down button that appears next to the “Post” option. By selecting “Custom” you are able to select which people see your post (or don’t see it).

As Facebook advances, it is providing more ways of politely hiding people you may wish to see less content from, without having to delete them entirely. Hopefully this will all help with saving you valuable time when searching through your news feed for the news you do want to see… time that you can spend enjoying your lunch (just don’t post a status update about it!).

The amazing power of “Walking,”

Sometimes the best solutions are the most simple. This appears to be the case with walking, arguably the simplest form of exercise. Walking is gentle on the body and takes no special equipment to perform, making it also a very accessible way to exercise. There has been quite a bit of research done on the effectiveness of walking, and the results are staggering.

Decreased pain and disability

Walking appears to make the body stronger and more resilient in addition to being therapeutic. When people suffering from knee arthritis walked for only three hours a week, their pain and disability went down by nearly half. Walking for only four hours per week decreased the risk of hip fracture in post-menopausal women by over 40 percent.

Walking and mental health

Though physical activity and mental health are not always put in the same breath, walking also appears to have a significant impact Happy-Family-Hands-Fall-Walk-Trailon our happiness levels. In one study, nearly a third of the depressed patients reported feeling better after only a small dose of walking. When that small dose was increased, the number of depressed patients who were feeling better jumped to about half. Similarly, walking has been shown to reduce anxiety in about half of all patients who implement it into their routine.

Decreased illness and disease

The risk of disease and illness also seems to be significantly cut down when walking is added to the picture. Some research has found that walking can decrease the risk of heart disease by as much as 50 percent. Older patients who started a walking routine were able to reduce their progression of dementia and Alzheimer’s by about half as well. In one study of patients at a high risk for diabetes, walking was combined with other lifestyle interventions and almost 60 percent of patients reduced the progression to frank diabetes.

Walking and lower mortality

All of these benefits point to a lower mortality rate as well. A Harvard alumni study followed graduates for a dozen years and found that people who walked had a 23 percent lower rate of death than those who did not walk. Cardiorespiratory fitness, something walking can influence, has also been pointed to as the best mortality predictor.

Though walking may never become a fitness fad, its benefits are undeniable. In fact, if a pill could produce effects similar to the statistics cited above, it would be the bestselling drug in the world. Until then the rest of us will be making strides naturally, one step at a time.

Lower cancer risk found in green tea drinkers

cancrIn case you haven’t noticed, some of the most recent breakthroughs in terms of battling cancer have come from natural, not traditional medicinal, sources.

That trend is continuing, according to the results of a large new study which found that older women who regularly drink green tea may have less risk of developing colon, stomach and throat cancers, compared to women who don’t consume tea at all.Green-Tea-Mug-Cup-Spoon-Bag

Researchers discovered that of more than 69,000 Chinese women who they followed for more than 10 years, those who drank green tea at least three times per week were 14 percent less likely to develop a cancer afflicting the digestive system, Reuters reported, citing the scientists’ work.

Generally speaking, that meant those women had less of a chance of developing esophageal, stomach and colon cancers.
‘Strong evidence’ that green tea works to some extent

Scientists involved in this study were unsure if the green tea itself was responsible for the lower rates of cancer, but noted that those who drink it are very often more health conscious. However, several previous studies have suggested green tea helps prevent certain kinds of cancer, through its powerful antioxidant action.

Nevertheless, this most recent study attempted to account for the health-conscious aspect, according to Dr. Wei Zheng, head of epidemiology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, who led the study. None of those involved in the study smoked or drank alcohol on a regular basis. In addition, researchers gathered information on their diets, exercise habits, medical history and weight.

Even with all of those factors added to the equation, women’s tea habits remained linked to their risk of developing cancer, noted Zheng, adding that nevertheless, this type of study can’t prove cause-and-effect.

And he said that past studies revealed conflicting findings on whether consumers of green tea honestly have lower cancer risks (though the anecdotal evidence, at least, is very strong, as we have shown in our coverage of this topic).

“All of those studies,” Reuters reported, “are hampered by the fact that it’s hard to isolate the effect of a single food in a person’s diet on the risk of cancer.”

Clinical trials are just about the only types of studies that are able to reveal evidence of cause-and-effect, where people are randomly selected to drink green tea in some form – or not at all. According to the National Cancer Institute, there have been few such studies.

Zheng and his team, referencing his own study, said that “strong evidence” from lab research in animals and human cells suggested that green tea has some potential as an anti-cancer agent in a report on their findings in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

As in previous studies examining a link between green tea and a reduction in cancer risk, they revealed that the beverage contains key antioxidant chemicals – particularly a substance known as EGCG – that may act to thwart the body-cell damage which can ultimately lead to cancer and other disease processes.

For their study, Zheng and his team used data from an 11-year running study of 69,000 middle-aged and older Chinese women. More than 19,000 of them were considered regular consumers of green tea, in that they drank it at least three times a week.

In some places,U.S. doctors are dumping all health insurance and charging patients LESS

In some places across the US, high-cost health insurance coverage is being discarded altogether. The looming Affordable Care Act health insurance mandate seems to be inspiring constructive disobedience. Yes, doctors are now “outsmarting” this government mandated health care system and moving towards a cash only system. This is leading to more affordable, expansive care for many – as the red tape is eliminated. Quality, affordable health care will return to America, not through blind compliance to mandates, but from those who completely defy the health insurance system altogether. As doctors move toward a much simpler system, they can charge less and also spend more time caring about their patients instead of dealing with unneeded paperwork.

Kansas physician cuts through the red tape

This is exactly what’s happening in Wichita, Kansas. The red tape is being cut down. This Kansas family physician, Doug Nunamaker, says he is now offering higher quality health care at a fraction of the cost after abandoning the entire money-bloated insurance Doctor-Medical-Office-Stamp-Paperworksystem. He now effectively cuts overhead costs and charges his patients a small monthly fee, reducing medical service costs across the board.

Tired of all the red tape and insurance paperwork over the last five years, 32-year old Nunamaker decided to simplify his practice. Noticing how wasteful the system really was, Nunamaker realized that he paid an entire staff to manage health insurance red tape. By ditching this system, Nunamaker has been able to lower costs to patients and spend more time actually caring for them.
Most of Nunamaker’s clients are self employed, small business owners. These patients are now testifying that a small monthly fee to Nunamaker’s office is much more affordable than modern day health insurance plans (which are set to be mandated on Americans in 2014).

A more efficient route based on personal choice

Nunamaker also recommends to his patients that they opt to carry a high deductible health insurance plan to cover extreme emergencies that may require hospitalization. This option, coupled with Nunamer’s monthly fee, continues to be much more affordable than buying into current health insurance packages.

With much simpler options on the table, Nunamaker presents a more efficient way for Americans to be covered in case of an emergency and also providing inexpensive access to a wide variety of care.

In this way, healthy people aren’t forced to pay for another person’s poor lifestyle choices (like under Obamacare).

Nunamaker’s way also prevents a select few from feeling “entitled” to free healthcare. Everyone who chooses to participate pays a reasonable fair share based on age. Under Obamacare, nearly everyone, whether they choose or not, pays for everyone’s universal medical expenses, necessary and unnecessary.

Nunamaker working with colleagues to provide expansive network of affordable care

Under the Nunamaker’s basic membership plan, patients pay a flat monthly fee based on age that allows them to access unlimited “direct primary care” from medical providers that work at his practice.

For example, pediatric services are accessible for only $10 a month. Adults up to age 44 only pay $50 a month. Anyone over 44 pays only $100 a month. This cash only method, which also encompasses credit and debit transactions, is bypassing hours of wasted time, bloated prices, and red tape. It effectively goes around the new “Affordable Care Act” and actually offers affordable care. For example, a basic cholesterol test only costs his patients $3, compared to a typical $90 charge brought on by an insurance company.

Top children’s vitamin brand chock-full of GMOs

This is Very Scary!!!!

Do you know all the ingredients contained in the multivitamin you feed to your children? Thousands of American parents apparently do not, as one of the top selling multivitamins for children, Flintstones Vitamins, is loaded with genetically-modified organisms Children-Vitamins-Happy(GMOs), aspartame, aluminum, petroleum-derived artificial colors, and all sorts of other toxic additives that are literally poisonous to humans, and especially to children.

One would assume that because it is a “multivitamin,” and one marketed specifically to children, that it contains only nutritious ingredients in the most appropriate doses and nothing more. To the contrary, the Flintstones Vitamins brand, which is manufactured by global drug giant Bayer, contains a host of synthetic additives that are actually banned in many countries due to their toxicity not only in humans but also in the environment.

A quick look at the Flintstones Complete Chewables page, for instance, reveals a laundry list of additives that serve absolutely no nutritional purpose whatsoever. Refined sugars, sorbitol, ferrous fumarate, hydrogenated soybean oil, GM corn starch, and artificial, aluminum-based food colorings top the list of questionable additives in this particular children’s multivitamin. Also included in the mix is a host of synthetic compounds labeled as vitamins, all of which have minimal bioavailability.

“Bayer’s Flintstones vitamin brand is far from a natural product, and the consumer should be aware of the unintended, adverse health effects that may occur as a result of using it,” writes Sayer Ji on his health site about the issue. “It is important to hold accountable brands that refuse to label their products honestly, especially when they contain ingredients that have been produced through genetic modification.”

You can view the full ingredients list for Flintstones Complete Chewables here:

The rest of the Flintstones vitamin line is not much better. Flintstones Complete Gummies, which are labeled on the company’s site as having a “new formula,” contain many of the same toxic additives. Artificial flavors, coal tar-based artificial coloring agents, and synthetic isolated vitamin compounds are all present in this particular vitamin formula as well.

Many of the ‘vitamins’ used in Flintstones are considered hazardous substances in Europe

Interestingly, many of the ingredients promoted in Flintstones vitamins as helping children get their daily intake of nutrients are actually listed as hazardous or outright banned in places like the European Union (EU), where additive safety is taken more seriously. Cupric oxide, for instance, which is listed as a supposedly nutritional source of copper in Flintstones vitamins, is actually classified as a “hazardous substance” in the EU’s Dangerous Substance Directive.

Similarly, zinc oxide, which is often added to conventional sunscreen products, is listed as a substance that is “dangerous for the environment.” Not only is zinc oxide a poor choice for a zinc supplement as the human body can hardly recognize or use it, but the EU Dangerous Substance Directive considers the substance to be an environmental hazard – how, then, can it be considered healthy for children to ingest?

Then there is the issue of the extreme neurotoxicity of aspartame, which has no place in the human food supply, let alone in children’s multivitamins. And the same goes for artificial colors, which have been shown in scientific studies to trigger attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and various other behavioral disorders in children – why add these to vitamins in the first place?

Parents looking for an alternative to mainstream vitamins like Flintstones may want to take a look at whole food-based vitamin supplement brands like MegaFood, Garden of Life, and Pure Synergy. These brands use vitamins and nutrients derived from whole foods rather than laboratory concoctions, which means the body can assimilate them more effectively.
