Is Your Comfort Zone Making You Money?

You are at a function and someone asks what you do for a living. You reply, “I’m self-employed.”

“Really? How long have you been in business? Is it working out for you?”

You gulp, paste on a fake smile and say, “Well, I have been in business X amount of years, and it’s great!” But secretly you are thinking, Yeah right. Then why can’t I get to the next level?… I am a fraud!

Does this sound familiar?

Every woman entrepreneur I have known has been asked a similar question and felt this way at some point in her career, and here’s why:                        comfort-zone (1)

When you work for yourself, it’s easy to get stuck in what we call the “Comfort Zone.” We settle for what we have because we don’t want to push the envelope. Business might not be booming, but it’s not too bad either, so we just settle in and sail along.

But smooth sailing doesn’t make a better sailor. If you want to see real results for your business and push it to great success, you are going to have to step out of your comfort zone and find ways to shake things up. This can be pretty scary at first, but once you are out of your box and making changes, you will wonder why you ever stayed there!

Now, we all know that that’s easier said than done! So the first thing to do is a simple behavior modification.

Change Your Way of Thinking, One Thought at a Time

We tend to stick with the safe route when it comes to running our business. But risk is what drives success. Each time you ask yourself “What if?” start taking steps to actually find out! (What if I opened a brick-and-mortar store? What if I could get a loan to develop a new product?) Most people ask these questions and then stop thinking past that out of fear.

So stop being afraid, challenge yourself to think the next thought, and ask the next question!

Imagine You, More Successful

Put on your visionary hat! Dreaming about being a successful female entrepreneur is what propels us into starting a business, but we often stop picturing ourselves in that role after we get to work. Once we create the business, we start to worry about being a failure, and that image replaces the positive one. Then we become overwhelmed and stop moving forward.

In order to stop this negative behavior, your task is to start each day with a little mental exercise: image where you and your business will be in one year. Then do something outside the normal business role, like…

Take on a New Hobby

A new hobby might not seem like it has anything to do with moving your business forward, but it has a lot to do with motivating yourself to push in new directions. That can lead you to make new and exciting changes for your business, too. Once you feel comfortable taking a leap of faith in your personal life, you will feel more secure chartering unknown waters in your business.

Consider doing something that scares you (like skydiving) or that stimulates your brain (like learning how to design websites).

Invest in Yourself

Now it’s time to really invest in your own mental realm. Learning new things can help you make improvements to your business because it broadens the way you view the world. Investing in your personal development will lead to better confidence in yourself, which translates into improvements for your business.

Modern-day ‘Slavery’ is anyone who cannot do math…that’s about 95% of the population

Throughout human history, most “slavery” has been enforced physically — with whips and chains. You either did what you were told, or they beat you into submission.

Most modern people mistakenly believe slavery has been largely eradicated across our world. They don’t see people shackled in chains or being ordered what to do by their owners.         Trouble-Math-Problem-Blackboard

“Slavery” is alive and well on our planet, and its shackles are made of numbers, not steel. Those who are enslaved under this new system are people who fail to understand simple math: numbers, compounding interest, loans, investments and so on. You show me a person who can’t do math, and I’ll show you someone who functions as a slave to the system.

This article shows you how to escape mathematical “slavery” and live as a free person. But first, you need to understand how mathematical slavery really works.

There’s a good reason why people who earn incomes reported on IRS W-2 forms are often called “wage slaves.” It’s not a derogatory term; it’s more of a cry for help. “Help! I’m a slave to my paycheck, and I can’t get ahead!”

There’s a reason you can’t get ahead: the banks and the government have fine-tuned your “payments” to them (taxes, loans, fees, etc.) in order to extract the maximum amount from your paycheck while leaving you so little of your own that you can never get ahead enough to stop working.

Your car payment and house payment, for example, are precisely calculated to make sure you can’t pay either of them off ahead of schedule. They’re mathematically selected to guarantee you can only “squeak by” and barely pay more than the monthly interest, thereby extending your loan principles into the far distant future.

Wage slaves genuinely believe that the parts of their paycheck “withheld” by the government are needed to run the government. This delusion has been hammered into their heads for so long that they simply cannot come to grips with the reality: the government can create all the money it needs to fund itself. It does not need to take it from taxpayers.

Home loans

Mathematically impaired individuals really get “taken to the bank” when it comes to home loans. Through the entire process of getting loan pre-approval, making an offer on a house, having the offer accepted and then closing the home to make it “yours,” these people are getting royally screwed up one side and down the other.

For starters, they do not understand that they are paying (a loan origination fee) for the “right” to pay a bank over 200% more than their house actually cost.

Insurance is where mathematically impaired individuals really pay the price. Most of the profits in the insurance industry come from people who make terrible decisions about what level of deductibles to apply to their insurance policies.

The way this works is that the lower your deductible, the more you’re getting ripped off. On auto insurance, any deductible under $2500 is a waste of money. Agents “sell” it to mathematically impaired individuals by saying, “You should buy a deductible of just $250, that way if something happens, the maximum you’ll have to pay out of pocket will be $250.”

You really need to read this article in its entirety. I really wonder just how many people don’t even realize that this scenario is actually happening.  You will then understand why they call it, modern day “Slavery.” Click the link below to read article.

Eat grapes to reduce body-wide inflammation and organ damage

Research just presented at the Experimental Biology conference held in Boston this week reveals that “grapes” contain powerful health promoting properties. Specifically, natural components known as polyphenols appear to protect against organ damage Grapescollectionassociated with the progression of metabolic syndrome – a group of conditions that occurs together and includes high blood pressure, abdominal fat and elevated cholesterol levels.

The study, headed by scientist E. Mitchell Seymour, Ph.D., of the University of Michigan Health System, looked at the effects of a high fat, American-style diet both with and without “grapes” on the heart, liver, kidneys, and fat tissue in obesity-prone rats. The grapes used were a blend of red, green and black varieties freeze-dried into a grape powder and mixed into the animals’ diets for three months.

The results? After just three months of a grape-enriched diet, inflammatory markers throughout the animals’ bodies were dramatically reduced — most significantly in the liver and in abdominal fat tissue. What’s more, there was also a reduction in liver, kidney and abdominal fat weight, compared with those consuming the control diet with no “grapes.” The grape diet increased markers of antioxidant defense, particularly in the liver and kidneys, as well.

Grapes help fight inflammation and oxidative stress

“Our study suggests that a grape-enriched diet may play a critical role in protecting against metabolic syndrome and the toll it takes on the body and its organs,” Dr. Seymour said in a media statement. “Both inflammation and oxidative stress play a role in cardiovascular disease progression and organ dysfunction in type 2 diabetes. Grape intake impacted both of these components in several tissues which is a very promising finding.”

Research by the University of Michigan scientists on “grapes,” previously reported in NaturalNews, also found eating grapes could dramatically reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by lowering blood pressure, helping heal signs of heart muscle damage and improve heart function. Published in the Journal of Gerontology: Biological Sciences, the study concluded the high level of naturally occurring antioxidants present in grapes reduces potentially harmful cell-damaging free radical activity in the body. A ground-breaking pilot study, led by Robert Krikorian, PhD, of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, has found that drinking the juice of  “grapes” appears to stave off memory decline in older adults, as well.

I love grapes, this is really good news to me. To read more articles like this one and others, click on the link below.

How Gazillions Use Twitter Effectively To Increase Visibility

Are you using Twitter for your business? Twitter’s slogan, “What’s happening?” is the idea of letting everyone know what you’re doing right now. In 10 minutes, you tell them again… and again, and again. Why would we even bother doing something crazy like that? Do we care who has just had scrambled eggs? What’s up with that?TwitterNorma-300x300

The truth is this: if Twitter is properly used, it can help you build relationships and it can be a very powerful tool for your marketing. Millions across the world continually stream a non-stop flow of reported events – big or small – on Twitter’s news stream. It is now possible to hear, within seconds, of events happening anywhere in the world. Interesting concept, wouldn’t you say? When there’s a big story, you can bet you won’t miss hearing about it on Twitter. You don’t even have to go looking – it will find you.

Twitter is a brilliant tool to get your products or services out to your potential audiences. Getting yourself heard in the midst of a crowd of thousands is the challenge; that is why you must be strategic and build a huge following. It’s kind of a numbers game, so try to grab attention as much as possible on a regular basis.

Be very patient in the beginning. Begin following people you know (friends, family, friends of friends, etc.) and eventually those you don’t know yet. The main key is to get people to follow you back.

Find people with similar interests as yours and most likely these like-minded people will follow you back. The more YOU follow, the more people will see and follow you. After a while you’ll have built up a decent following.

Unwritten Rules:

  • Someone follows you? Follow them back.
  • Block the shady characters from following you.
  • Following is a two-way street – having a one-way conversation is not optional.
  • Twitter users build communities where they serve others. Enjoy and learn from them.
  • Provide value. Post informative, inspirational, or fun things for your followers to read.
  • Many use apps that will unfollow you if you don’t follow back. Remember and be aware of this.

Tweets are most likely linked to your blog posts. Keep them simple, short and sweet one-liners. You can also use quotes – people love them. Link back to your own blog as a great way of leading people to your online marketing material or products (plus, you want people to sign up for your newsletter or contact you). Strike the balance between the more serious, marketing-type of Tweets with the light and fun, building a loyal following. In the long run it will get you results.

Think of Twitter this way:
See the many people mingling in a party room. Some are standing, quietly observing. You walk in, look around – is there someone you know? You begin a conversation. That’s networking on Twitter.

In a relaxed and friendly manner, begin sharing about yourself and your business. Do NOT yell, “Buy my stuff! I’m Mrs. Wonderful!!!” (◕‿◕)

Profile Tips . . .

  • Use your name – you are your business so put it out there.
  • If you must use a Business name, add your personal name somewhere.
  • Use a current picture – you want people to know who you are.
  • State plainly and clearly what you do. Be precise and interesting.
  • Be sure to link back to your blog. You could also leave a link to another media site.
  • The game:  You WANT people to click through to your site!

Big brother tries yet again to invade your online privacy-CISPA is back!

Censorship-Computer-Handcuffs-Freedom-InternetRecent cyber attacks on media giants such as the New York Times and The Washington Post have escalated concerns for strict internet regulations that would prevent future attacks. This has led the House of Representatives to pass the highly controversial Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act “CISPA” with 288-127 vote.

Last year, the Congress’s “CISPA” bill fell flat on its face, defeated by online freedom activists across the United States. Opponents to the bill are taking action again, including 300,000 who have already contacted Mike Rogers, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee. Another 100,000 or more signatures opposing “CISPA” have already been obtained on the White House’s own website.

Why people far and wide are opposing this controlling bill

The idea of  “CISPA”  was to allow companies to share internet traffic data with the government to detect possible cyber attacks. The idea has been rejected by internet freedom advocates and over 40 civil liberty organizations.

This power grab is creating an uproar; many are fed up with being monitored and force-fed information. A controlled internet sphere would enable a select few, the “CISPA,” to delegate what goes in and out of the internet.

What information could government collect?

Information such as online chats, email content, browsing history, and bank records would all be up for grabs if this bill passes. The government’s national security network could become a government spy network that could gain legal access to anyone’s private online information.

Google, Facebook and Apple are in favor of “CISPA” bill

TechNet, the trade association that represents technology companies like Google, Apple and Facebook, has expressed support for CISPA in a recent letter written to the US House of Representatives.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is hard at work, opposing CISPA. Ohanian recently posted a YouTube video calling for Google and Facebook to understand that CISPA would invalidate their current privacy policies with their respective user bases.

“If someone wants private access to our private home or to our mail, we ask them to go get a warrant, right?” Ohanian asks in his video. “CISPA” basically says, ‘Not necessary. Your digital privacy is irrelevant.'”

The death of new ideas

If sites like Facebook, Google, or Twitter complied with national or international regulations, the very essence of websites, free speech, and the internet would be destroyed. A controlled cyberspace would destroy new ideas as people become forced to comply with new globalist cyber rules and regulations.

This article is good information about what could happen to the internet and Your privacy, through the “CISPA.” Read more on this article by clicking the link below.

Show You The Money!

For those of you with small businesses, or ideas you want to launch, one of the biggest challenges that you face is obtaining funding. All the rage right now is crowd funding, which can be quite effective if you have the ability to heavily promote it. But what if you don’t? Well, you can raise money with grants.          Business-Grants

Many businesses are eligible to apply for grants, but the key is finding one that your business will qualify for. Grants are available from the federal, state and local units of government. But many people don’t know that they are also available from not-for-profit corporations, profit corporations, educational organizations, and foundations.

Like anything, if you’re willing to put in the effort, then grants can be a potential source of funding for your business. Here are a few quick tips to guide you:

Tip 1: Identify The Type Of Grant You Need

Before doing anything else, you’ll need to identify what TYPE of grant you need so you know where look. This is crucial so you don’t waste your time!

If you are looking for a business grant, you should explore the U.S. Small Business Administration. If you are looking for an educational grant, you should be looking at the U.S. Department of Education and your State Department of Education, along with other funding organizations providing education grants.

There are literally thousands of grants awarded every year from the government, non-profit organizations, and corporations. Once you have identified the type of grant you need, the next step is to search for grants that you can QUALIFY for.

Tip 2: Find Grants You Qualify For

After completing advice from Tip #1, if you have U.S. federal government agencies on your list, then you can search directly on an agency’s website for their requirements. You can also search for grant opportunities from various U.S. federal government agencies.

If you are seeking a grant from foundations, a good resource is the Foundation Center. This online directory has information on more than 95,000 U.S. foundations and corporate contributors. You can search for the top foundations awarding grants based upon your specific needs.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to apply for a grant that you aren’t eligible for. Make sure you read the qualification requirements carefully so you don’t waste your time.

For example, if the grant specifies that only “small for-profit businesses with less than 50 employees” are eligible, it does no good to apply if you’re a non-profit business.

Scientific paper that announced high levels of lead in rice suddenly retracted!

A recent scientific paper that concluded imported rice was heavily contaminated with lead has been suddenly withdrawn by its author. Natural News has confirmed from the author, Monmouth University Chemistry Professor Tsanangurayi Tongesayi, that the “scientific paper” is recalled until further notice.Brown-Rice-In-Glass-Container
The paper  found that some sources of rice, including rice from China, were contaminated with as much as 12,000% more lead than allowed under current safety limits for children.

The story was widely published across the media, including Natural News. Its findings, after all, were consistent with many other findings about the contamination of foods grown in heavily polluted countries. So no one thought the conclusions might be in doubt. When we hear about “scientists” conducted metals analysis in foods, we tend to think they know what they’re doing, right?

The authors themselves discovered worrisome discrepancies on “scientific papers,” when they sent the samples to a third-party lab for verification. Why the Tongesayi team did not conduct third-party lab verification before announcing the results has not been explained.

Analysis machine somehow produced flawed data

According to their own announcement about their findings:

We measured the levels of lead in rice that is imported into the U.S. using XRF and the data was validated using a NIST1568a reference sample. Lead levels ranged from 5.95 +/- 0.72 to 11.9 +/- 0.6 mg/kg and the calculated Daily Exposure amounts were significantly higher than the Provisional Total Tolerable Intakes for all age groups.

Translation: What they’re basically saying is that they found lead at levels of 6 to 12 ppm in rice. But as you’ll see below, these numbers are completely wrong.

2012 tests from Consumer Reports reveal roughly 1,000 times LOWER levels of lead in rice

Here’s another clue worth considering in all this. In 2012, Consumer Reports published results of its lead analysis of 223 brands of rice. They also measured arsenic and cadmium in rice.

If you click the link above, the chart you’ll see is shown in parts per BILLION.

It sounds like the  Tongesayi team made a very large mistake in their reporting. To read this article in full, click on the link below.

Berries, pomegranates shown to have highest anti-cancer activity of any fruits

Many studies have confirmed that “berries” are the best foods to maximize your intake of disease-fighting antioxidants, and have also identified the other fruits and vegetables with the highest antioxidant content.Berries-Bowl-Raspberries-Blueberries

Antioxidants are increasingly implicated as the chemicals behind many of the health-promoting benefits of fruits and vegetables. They act in part by cleansing the body of free radicals, which can cause cell and DNA damage that leads to the effects of aging and to many chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Just one cup per day

One major study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry in 2004, analyzed the antioxidant levels of more than a hundred separate foods including fruits, vegetables, breads, cereals, nuts and spices.

Researchers found that “berries” were by far the most cost-effective way of consuming antioxidants.  Cranberries, blueberries and blackberries topped the list for antioxidant content. Just a single cup a day of “berries” was found to provide the recommended daily intake of antioxidants for disease-fighting purposes.

The top ranking fruits, after berries, were peaches, mangoes and melons.

A similar study was published in the same journal in 2008 by researchers from Cornell University. In contrast with the 2004 study, melons were actually found to have the lowest antioxidant activity among fruits, along with bananas. Berries (including blackberries, raspberries and blueberries) still scored at the top, with wild blueberries found to be the most potent. Pomegranates ranked equal to “berries” in antioxidant content.

In A comprehensive review

In 2010, the most comprehensive review of foods’ antioxidant content to date was published in Nutrition Journal. The analysis of more than 3,100 foods, beverages, herbs, spices and dietary supplements was conducted by researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, the University Of Minnesota, Norwegian Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research, the University of Oslo, Akershus University College in Norway, and Akita University Graduate School of Medicine in Japan.

The researchers found that the antioxidant content varied several thousand-fold among the different products tested. The products with the highest antioxidant concentrations were herbs, spices and dietary supplements, although these products are typically consumed in much smaller quantities than food. For food and beverage products, the highest antioxidant concentrations were found in berries, fruits, nuts, chocolate and vegetables. Overall, the researchers found that plant-based foods were significantly higher in antioxidants than animal-based foods.

Higher mercury levels increase risk of diabetes

New research conducted by the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington has found that young adults consuming higher levels of mercury face a higher risk of type 2 “diabetes” by 65 percent later in life. Led by the university’s epidemiologist KaMercury-Metal-Vaccine-Shot-Syringe He, the study has identified the consumption of shellfish and fish as the main dietary source of mercury. This finding poses a complication on nutrition since fish and shellfish are also known to be an important source of lean protein and nutrients like omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids and magnesium.

The research

Around 3,875 participants participated in the research. After studying lifestyle controls and other dietary consumption of magnesium and omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids, the study was able to establish a connection between type 2 diabetes risk and mercury levels in both men and women.

Participants who have higher levels of mercury practice a healthier lifestyle and perform exercises more regularly, which can be seen in their lower body mass indexes and smaller waist measurements. The higher levels of mercury were also attributed to their higher consumption of fish, which can be an indicator of a healthy diet or a higher socio-economic status. Being overweight was also identified as one of the risk factors for type 2 diabetes.

An important finding from the study, includes emphasizing the importance of choosing the right fish with lower mercury levels such as salmon, catfish and shrimp. It was also pointed out that people should avoid fish with higher mercury content such as shark and swordfish. Fish consumption guidelines under the FDA and EPA also include provisions on mercury levels, particularly for young children, pregnant women, and women of childbearing age.

According to He and the other authors of the research, the study reflects the overall health impact of eating fish, since it contains both helpful nutrients and harmful contaminants. They further add that any other study relating to the nutrients and contaminants in fish should also consider its other components.

Do You Ever Feel Like A Fake?

This is an awesome article from Angela Rennilson. I know there have been times when I could have identified with some many of the pointers here. Probably almost all of us at one time or another have felt this way.    ImposterSyndrome

Lydia graduated as high school valedictorian. She received a full scholarship to a prestigious university and pursued graduate degrees with honors. After school, she became a successful entrepreneur of a major fortune 500 company. But in spite of a history of success, every night Lydia goes home, she weeps. Even at the height of her accomplishments, loneliness and a sense of failure plague her. She lives in constant fear of being discovered to be a fraud. She believes that none of her successes is due to her hard work and intelligence, but to luck and her ability to fool people.

Dr. Pauline Rose Clance is best known as the author of The Imposter Phenomenon: Overcoming the Fear that Haunts Your Success. She and her colleagues coined the term Imposter Phenomenon in the 1970’s while studying women like Lydia.

It describes the experience that affects people who are both high achievers and at the same time feel intense anxiety and doubt about their abilities.

These women live in fear of discovery that their “true identity” is not as competent as they present it to be while thinking they are personally responsible for any failures that happen.

We all have experiences of wanting to project a good image professionally.

For example, in an interview we dress up, look our best, and speak confidently about our abilities. We might stick to topics that are of interest to the employer and we might withhold personal opinions that contradict those of the employer in order to get the job.

In other words, we put on a professional mask.

We all have some experience of “fake it until you make it,” so what’s the difference between those who feel like an imposter and those of us with a mask on?

The difference is in the internal experience.

The person who wears a professional mask can take it off. They don’t internalize the experience negatively if they do not get the job or land the deal.

The imposter, on the other hand, feels overwhelming anxiety, depression, and an overall sense of failure REGARDLESS of success. The imposter feels like they can’t ever take the mask off.

  • Emotional isolation from others
  • An anxiety driven performance of diligence and hard work without rest
  • Withholding your opinions, using charm or intellect to gain approval
  • Procrastinating OR over-preparing. Anything less than perfect is unacceptable
  • Discounting successes and internalizing failures

Are these experiences familiar?
